    Welcome to Yates DecksFactor 2008! We're looking for the next generation of DJs to work in our venues and beyond. Whether you be a budding bedroom DJ, mobile DJ or are simply looking to take a step up from your current position, we want to hear from you!

    Think you have what it takes? Think you're the next "big thing"? Well now's your chance to show us what you've got and impress the people who matter in the industry! DecksFactor will see hundreds of talented DJ wannabes thrashing it out for a chance to go through to their local bar final and stake their claim to a great winners package!

What we're looking for

Yates is all about going out and having fun with your mates, which is why we need DJs who have the skills and personality to ensure that our customers have a great time with us and that they will want to come back time and time again! Having the right entertainers in our venues is key to giving our customers the ultimate experience, so we'll be judging your performance based on the following criteria

• Mixing ability
• Use of microphone
• Crowd interaction
• Music selection
• Personal appearance
• Ability to follow venue brief

The Format

what you need to know

There will be three bar heats, followed by a bar final, to be ran weekly at your local participating Yates venue. Winners from the bar finals will be invited to the grand final, to be held at Yates Newcastle on Wednesday July 3rd, 2008

Each DJ will be given a minimum of 20 minutes to impress the judges/crowd. This time may vary without notice, so its best to expect the unexpected! Equipment will be the same in each venue, in order to make the contest fair for all entrants. This equipment will consist of Pioneer CMX 3000 Twin CD decks and a Citronic CDM10 Mixer. DJs must bring their own Headphones, Microphone (Including XLR or Jack lead) and most importantly, CDs. Due to the fact that many of our venues are not equipped for Vinyl, Vinyl will not be catered for or allowed in the contest.

The tour will involve 8 gigs at Yates venues across the North of England, with the chance to go on to work with other venues within the Laurel pub chain, as well as the chance to work in other venues whom work with Total Entertainment UK.

You can either call into one of these venues and ask for a DecksFatcor application form, or you can download the form HERE. Simply download, complete and sign before handing it in to your preferred venue. You will then be contacted by the venue who will inform you of your allocated date/time slot. So be sure that you have completed the form correctly and that your contact details are accurate

Terms & Conditions

The small print

• Only open to UK residents or foreign nationals with a work permit applicable to the entertainment industry
• No Laptops, we want DJs, not play list managers!
• Entrants must be at least 18 years of age
• Staff who have worked for/with either Laurel group and/or Total Entertainment UK in the past three months are not elligible.
• All DJs are to be responsible for the copyright of any music used during this event and should ensure that they have the legal right to use/play any material they bring with them.
• Entrants will refrain from using course or inappropriate language whilst using the microphone and we reserve the right to remove any entrant who does so.
• Any entrant who gives false information in order to circumvent any of the restrictions imposed on registration will be instantly removed from the contest.
